“The art of not dying is mostly the art of choosing your fights.”
— Fleet Admiral Selene Voss
Engaging
Select your fleet and right-click an enemy fleet to engage. Your fleet flies towards the target and pursues it. When the fleets meet, both are marked in combat and their map icons change to show it.
How damage works
Every hit passes through the target's defences in a fixed order:
- Resistance for that damage type reduces the hit once.
- Shields absorb it first. Shield-bypass damage skips the shield, and taking hits pauses shield recharge.
- Armor takes what gets through (armor-bypass damage skips it).
- Hull takes the rest. At zero hull, the ship is destroyed.
The full formula, with bypass and damage multipliers, is in the Stat Scaling guide.
The galaxy
The Frontier is divided into sectors. Each holds solar systems, planets, commanders' outposts, processing complexes and resource fields, joined by warp lanes. Use the Sector and Planet views to move around it.
Coming to the Frontier
Battle results. Engagements start, but battles are not resolved yet. Planned: battles of up to five minutes (a draw after that), fleet-versus-fleet and fleet-versus-base, with damage that carries over afterwards.
Base raids. Planned: attackers loot part of a base's unprotected resources (Shielded Vaults protect the rest), and a base that loses gets a temporary shield.
Mining, warp-lane travel, NPC fleets and events (Tide Harvesters, Guardians, convoys, ion storms, artifacts). They appear in the game's data but aren't active yet.
Alliances, chat, leaderboards and trading. Being in the same alliance already stops two commanders being hostile, but there is no way to create or join an alliance yet.
