Welcome to the Frontier

Your first session: how your commander is created and what you start with.

“Welcome to the Frontier, Commander. Nobody out here is coming to save you. That is why we trained you.”

— Fleet Admiral Selene Voss

Your commander

Massive Frontier signs you in with your Steam account. There is no separate login: the first time you play, the game creates your commander automatically and names it after your Steam name.

Your home base is placed in orbit of a planet with room for it. That base is your outpost on the map. Your fleets launch from it, and a fleet that is wiped out returns to it.

What you start with

Every new commander gets a free starter base:

Your wallet starts full: 20,000 Minerals, 10,000 Helium-3 and 500 Antimatter, which is what one Warehouse holds.

You start with no ships and two empty fleet slots. Your first job is to get your economy running and your first hulls out of the Shipyard.

Tip

Your storage starts full. Spend some of it early: a mine that finds its buffer full stops producing until you collect.

Your faction

Every commander belongs to one of the powers of the Frontier. Your faction's multipliers apply to your equipment: weapon damage, armor, shields and build costs. See Factions for each power's doctrine and multipliers, and the Stat Scaling guide for exactly what each multiplier affects.

In development

Choosing your faction in game is not available yet.
