History
The Celestial Order was born from the Church of the Undying Light, the imperial state faith that taught that Aurelia was a god in its dying. When the star flared and burned the Ring, the Church's most fervent orders declared it judgment: the Throne had become unworthy of the Light, and the Light demanded a cleansing.
The Order has been cleansing ever since. Its zealots believe that the stars themselves command them, and their beam-lances pass through shields like scripture through doubt. They fight in cathedral-ships, heal their faithful mid-battle, and pay any price for righteousness. They believe the next Flare will be Aurelia's final judgment on the Frontier. They are looking forward to it.
On the Tide
The Order teaches that the Tide is the Light's instrument, sent to cull the unworthy. It fights the Tide anyway, to prove that it is worthy.
“Fanatics make terrible allies and worse enemies. The Order is both, often in the same engagement.”
— Frontier Command assessment, Fleet Admiral Selene Voss
