Alpha build 60 is live, and Fleet Admiral Voss reports for duty.
This is a required update: the server refuses older copies. Exit Steam completely and start it again to get the new build. The server restarted once at 15:45 UTC, after a five-minute notice, and nothing was wiped.
The daily sector briefing
Once a day Fleet Admiral Selene Voss of Frontier Command tells you what happened in the sector the day before, in her own voice. Her report is written from what really happened on the server, and it is the same for every commander.
- Open it with the new comm button at the bottom right of the screen, two buttons left of Battle Reports. A dot on the button means there is a report you have not heard.
- She begins by herself when the card opens, and her words are written on the card. STOP stops her, PLAY starts her from the top, and once she has finished the button offers REPLAY.
- What she reports: how many battles were fought, how many Tide fleets and ships were destroyed, how many of our fleets the Tide broke, the fights between commanders, the commander with the best record of the day, a Tide incursion and how it ended, and new alliances.
- A new report is written a little after 00:00 UTC.
The first one is waiting for you now: yesterday the sector fought 387 battles, 8 of them commander against commander, and the Tide sent a flagship.
Good to know
- Her voice is a recording made for that day's report. Her face is worked out on your own computer from the recording, once per report, which takes a few seconds the first time you open one.
- If her recording is not there yet, the card shows VOICE CHANNEL DOWN // TEXT ONLY and the report is words alone until it arrives.
- She names a commander or an alliance only when she can say the name. Otherwise it is counted but not named.
- This update is about 360 MB larger than the last one: she is in the game for the first time.
- Commander training with Voss is not in the game yet.
The Player's Guide has a new section on the briefing, and the changelog has the full list.
