Alpha build 54 - drag the view of a battle

Alpha build 54 is live. It is a small one, and not a required update: Alpha build 53 still connects, and the game server did not restart. Exit Steam completely and start it again to get it.

Drag the view of a battle

In a battle, hold the left mouse button on the battlefield and drag. The ground under the pointer goes with it, the way a map does. It works whether you command a fleet in the battle or only watch it.

  • A commander's drag keeps the ships that are picked. Pick your ships, drag the view over to the enemy, and right click to send them.
  • Once you drag, the camera is yours: the FREE CAMERA button lights, and pressing it hands the camera back to the fight.
  • A click on empty space, with no drag, still lets go of the ships you have picked.
  • Left Shift + drag is still the box that picks your ships. The middle mouse button and W A S D still move the camera, and so does a click on the mini map.

Every battle control is in the Player's Guide: Controls and Combat.

Tell us if a drag ever does nothing or the view jumps, and whether it was the first thing you did in that battle. The changelog has the full list.
