Server update 39.1 - queues that actually queue

Server update 39.1 is live. This one is server-side only, so there is nothing to download - if you were online during the restart, just start the game again.

Queues that actually queue

Ship building and ship research now work like a queue instead of a wall.

Before, the shipyard tried to run several jobs at once up to your Shipyard level, and anything past that limit was refused outright - the button did nothing, and you could not line work up and walk away. Now you add jobs up to the same limit, one runs at a time, and the next starts the instant the one ahead of it finishes.

That is how the Forge, the Lab and your base queue already behaved, so all five queues in the game now follow one rule: fill it up to your limit, and it empties in order.

When a queue is full the game also says so now. Ship research used to refuse in silence, which was impossible to guess at - it now tells you the queue is full, and that upgrading your Shipyard makes it longer.

Time you spend logged off finally counts

Queued module builds in the Forge carry on while you are away. Only the job already running would finish; everything behind it sat waiting until you came back, so a queue of half-hour builds could go untouched for hours.

The whole queue catches up when you log in now, and each job is credited from the moment the one before it finished - not from when you logged in. So a queue that came due overnight is done when you arrive, instead of starting over.

Also fixed

  • Your player level no longer climbs on its own every time you log in.
  • The ship class tiles in the shipyard are back in size order, Fighter through Dreadnought, instead of the scrambled order they were showing.
