Server update 38.1 is live. There is nothing to download - your game client is unchanged and Alpha build 38 is still the current version. If you were online during the restart, log back in and carry on.
Modules you build now start at Mark 1
Every module arrived in your inventory stamped Mark 0 rather than Mark 1. The stats were right either way - Mark 0 and Mark 1 are identical by design - but the price was not. Armour, shield and special modules author a real cost on their Mark 1 row, so the game offered you a first upgrade that took your coins and improved nothing at all: 400 coins at Tier 1, and more at higher tiers.
That step is gone. Every module you already own has been moved up to Mark 1 free of charge, and every Mark you actually paid for is untouched - nothing was reset and nothing became weaker or stronger.
Weapons were never affected. Their Mark 1 costs nothing, so the dead step was free for them and nobody lost anything on a weapon.
This came out of a tester asking in chat whether a Mk1 really takes the same time to build as a Mk5. It does, and that is deliberate - build time follows a weapon's tier, not its Mark - but checking the answer properly turned up the charge that should never have existed.
The restart ran long, and that was my fault
The countdown said about a minute and the server was down for roughly twelve. One of the update scripts was waiting on a keypress that nobody was there to press, with the server already stopped. Nothing was lost, no progress was affected, and the script has been fixed so it cannot happen that way again.
Also
The server now records why it moved an outpost when it repairs one at startup, instead of logging every move the same way. That one only affects our own logs - you will not see any difference in game.
As ever, if something looks wrong, say so.
