Pre-Alpha testing starts tomorrow

Pre-Alpha testing formally begins tomorrow, and everyone who has signed up will get a key. Not a first wave, not a lottery — the whole list.

Before that, thank you. For the past week four commanders have been playing on early keys while the build was still rough: launching fleets, breaking things, and writing up exactly what happened. Smoke testing is unglamorous work, and it is the reason tomorrow's build is worth putting in front of everyone else. All four of you — thank you, genuinely.

Getting in

  • Signed up on the website? Your key will be waiting on the playtest page. Sign in with Steam and it is there.
  • Signed up through Discord? The bot will send your key in a direct message.
  • Not signed up yet? There is still room — apply here.

What to expect

This is a Pre-Alpha, and it looks like one. Systems are half-built, some buttons do nothing yet, and fleet battles do not resolve at all. You can build fleets, arrange their formations and fly them anywhere in your sector, but they will not fight each other. That is the next big piece of work, and it is better said up front than discovered.

What you can do: build and upgrade a base, research and outfit ships, form fleets, deploy them, and send them across the map.

Where to go once you are in

  • The test plan — each round is a checklist with room for your notes and screenshots. Four rounds are open; start wherever you like.
  • The changelog — every build written up, newest first.
  • The bug tracker — report anything that looks wrong, and watch it get fixed.

Today's build, Alpha build 18, brings a command bar that shows every order you can give, fleets that can travel between a planet's view and the sector, and a way to find a fleet that has wandered off.

See you out there, Commander.
