Alpha build 77 is live. It is not a required update: Alpha builds 75 and 76 still connect. Steam offers the update by itself (exit Steam completely and start it again if it has not appeared). It brings a crash fix, together with the fixes for deep-space signals that went out this morning in Alpha build 76.
Fixed in Alpha build 77
- A crash on the sector map. The game could close with a crash after you scanned a signal, or when a fleet set off for an unknown one. It had nothing to do with your PC or graphics card. Thank you to the tester whose crash report found it.
- A fleet that was out at a signal when the game crashed carried on with its work by itself.
Signal fixes in Alpha build 76
- The Signals panel leaves the map free: while it is open you can still click, drag and zoom the map beside it.
- Buttons you cannot use are dimmed, and a line under them says why: lost to the Tide, already worked, a fleet of yours is already on it, or deploy a fleet first. The panel opens on a signal you can still work.
- A signal's view fills the screen whatever its shape, ultra-wide included, and the nebula stays still while you pan. Your fleet's icon is four times larger there, and a line at the top says what to do next at every step.
- After a fight at a signal you come back to the signal as the fight left it, not to an empty patch of space, and a battle at a signal now has the full battle zoom.
- The mouse wheel counts every notch, and it works again straight after a pan with the middle mouse button.
- A signal's progress could fail to be saved when a fleet was sent from one signal straight on to another. Fixed on the server.
The changelog has the whole list. If the game ever closes on you, send the crash report: that is how this one was found.
