Alpha build 75 is live. It is a required update: Alpha build 74 can no longer connect. Exit Steam completely and start it again if the update has not appeared.
Deep-space signals
- From commander level 10, three new signals reach you every three hours, and each one lasts six hours. They are yours alone.
- Open them with the new dish button on the HUD, or click a signal's marker on the sector map to look at it in its own deep-space view.
- A signal is a derelict warship, a freighter under attack, a Tide cache or, rarely, an ancient relay. Some arrive unknown: your scanner has three charges to reveal one before you commit a fleet.
- Send a fleet and choose how to work the signal when it arrives: carefully and slowly, fast with a chance of a Tide ambush, or in a straight fight.
- Signals pay module crates (a ship module of your faction), coins, resources, relic fragments and blueprint fragments, more for a higher tier.
Fights among the asteroids
- A fight at a signal happens among that signal's own ring of asteroids and wrecks, turning slowly. Ships steer round them, and a shot that crosses one stops on it: a rock between you and the enemy is cover.
- Anybody can watch: the battle has a red WATCH marker on the sector map while it lasts.
Weekend events
- Every weekend from Friday 18:00 to Monday 00:00 UTC, one event runs for everybody. A banner at the top of the screen says what is on; click it for the calendar.
- The first is this Friday, 23 October: Tide Surge. Beaten Tide patrols come back in 1 minute instead of 5, their wrecks pay twice the resources, and Tide battles count 1.5 times toward the weekly bounties.
- Rich Fields (mining holds fill 1.5 times as fast) and Salvage Weekend (twice the module crates from signals, and twice the chance of salvaging a module from a beaten commander's ship) follow in turn. Incursions are not changed.
Fleet Admiral Voss
- Voss is with you all the way: live on a signal's choice, and in a window at the left of the screen when you scan, when you are ambushed, when a signal is worked or a fleet is lost, and when a weekend event begins.
