Alpha build 45 - resistances that stack, corrected ship numbers, and The Tide is armed
Alpha build 45 is live. This is a client and server update. The server restarted at 13:32 UTC and nothing was wiped. If Steam does not offer you the update, exit Steam completely and start it again.
Alpha build 44 keeps working until your copy updates. The ship and base numbers come from the server, so you see the corrected figures either way.
Resistances now stack, and have a ceiling
Resistances no longer simply add up. Every armor plate, shield or special module that resists a damage type takes its share of the damage that still gets through, so each extra one is worth a little less: two 10% modules give 19%, not 20%.
- A ship never resists more than 75% of any one damage type.
- A base building never resists more than 95%.
If you stacked several modules against the same damage type, your ship or building will show a lower resistance than before. Nobody can be immune any more. The Stat Scaling page on the wiki has the rule and a table.
Hull abilities and special modules that grant resistance
A hull ability or special module that grants resistance now counts as a resistance source of its own, like a plate. A Tank's +12% kinetic used to be worth barely a point. A standard Tank hull now shows 22.6% kinetic resistance where it showed 12%.
To fit that rule, the strongest resistance special modules were toned down. Tier 3, 4 and 5 passive ones are now 24%, 30% and 36% (they were 28%, 40% and 55%), and the active ones 32%, 36% and 40% (they were 35%, 42% and 50%). Tiers 1 and 2 are unchanged.
Ship numbers that were shown wrong
- Assault and Command hulls showed much less damage than they really do once weapons were fitted, on ship cards and in the fleet list. A hull's own ability, the +10% damage or +12% speed you see in the Shipyard, was being applied the wrong way round.
- Ship cards now count the hull's own ability and any passive special modules fitted, in the ship's health, shield, speed, turning and resistance. They were left out before.
- Weapon damage now includes the rate-of-fire bonus from a weapon's Mark. Mark 2 to 5 weapons read 5 to 20% too low.
The Tide is armed
The Tide's fleets are now fully fitted with weapons, armor, shields and special modules. Until now they were flying empty hulls. Fleet battles are still switched off, so this changes nothing you can do today: it is groundwork for them.
